WHAT THEY SAY
Bonus SEIKO 5 SPORTS Automatic Strap Watch SNZG15J1 Mens
Love this watch, well built and good reserve electricity, it hasn’t ended yet, mine is just a little fast however, not a big concern.
That is a great entrance into automatic designer watches, the Seiko activity has an extended history of reliability.
Great watch that came up promptly. It exceeded my targets. Fit and finish off was beautiful. Well packed. The watch retains excellent time right from the box.
A hi-tech, 23 jewels, automatic movement defines the Seiko Automatic Sports and earns it its common status. This analog watch is supported by 23 jewels; the hands are luminous and silver-toned while baton hour-markers add extra visibility. The watch also shows time and resists normal water for up to 100 feet. The perfect watch out for a round of beach volleyball, the silver-toned stainless website link bracelet will keep it set up.
SEIKO 5 – this is of the “5” A great marketer had the theory in the 70isera: to be always a SEIKO 5, the watch really needs the next 5 (five) attributes (thus the name SEIKO 5):
- Water resistant,
- Shock resistant,
Please note that some SEIKO 5’s are actually SEIKO 4’s, if the “Day” function is omitted, then the Caliber 7S25 is used. The only real difference to the normally found 7S26 is the omission of your day wheel.
Also re-issues of SEIKO 5 Activities often use the 7S36 caliber. Again the 7S36 is similar to the most popular 7S26, yet it features 23 Jewels as opposed to the 21 Jewels in the 7S26.
Please note that these movements conquer for a price of 21’600 bph (beats per hour) or 6 bps (beats per second).
As a comparison, an ETA 2824-2 beats at 28’800 bph or 8 bps. A Miyota 82xx beats at 21’600 bph.
Why do you mention these three motions?
Because they are found in probably 80% of all inexpensive automatic wrist watches. A market talk about that is huge, yet challenged these days (2006) by a growing show of inexpensive China Made automated movements An computerized watch (also called a self-winding watch) is a mechanised watch, typically with an equilibrium wheel escapement, whose mainspring is wound by the motion of the wearer’s arm, instead of needing to be wound by hand every day.
Whereas a quartz watch is run by electricity, a mechanised watch is power by a mainspring which must be rewound for the watch to keep time.
THE CASE AND CRYSTAL
For SNK followers who want those watch situations were bigger, the wait is finally over. The SNZG15 measures a strong 42 mm which is 12 mm heavy. That means its dimensions are bigger than the old-style men’s wristwatches, but is noticeably smaller than the outrageously huge watches you commonly see today.
The top case includes a brushed surface finish, as well as refined end on the attributes. The crystal is Seiko’s own hardlex crystal, which is incredibly scratch resistant. It is also water resistant up to 100 meters.
The dial design seems a bit busy, although it does have a fairly nice arrangement which makes everything still readable. The external ring shows the dominant numbered markings, while an interior ring provides military services time. The day and particular date info is included at the 3 o’clock position.
The hour and minute hands are substantial with a pointy end, while the second hand is just a good sliver. The dark-colored dial offsets the hands and markers properly. The lume is excellent, as it glows brightly for 7 or 8 hours.
The automatic mechanised 7S36 watch activity is accurate and reliable, with variances ranging from -20 secs to +40 moments a day. That doesn’t quite compare with the best Swiss and Japanese computerized movements, but for an entry level watch it’s more than sufficient.
It offers a master rate of 21600 BPH, which means you do not get the unique ticking from a quartz watch that may be annoying at night when everything’s calm. There is a 40-hour vitality reserve and that means you can take it off during the night and never have to worry that it’ll stop working.
This is perhaps the weakest link in the Seiko 5 SNZG15, and it’s the reason why the SNZG15 is a few dollars cheaper than the Seiko 5 SNZG13. The 22 mm nylon strap can feel a bit too hard at first, and you will need some time to break it in. It will do the job well enough eventually though.
For a few, the nylon looks quite cheap so that it doesn’t match the peaceful selling point of the Seiko 5 SNZG15. But with NATO or leather straps you may easily buy in stores and online, it will look far better.
PROS & CONS Bonus SEIKO 5 SPORTS Automatic Strap Watch SNZG15J1 Mens
Basically, what we’ve here is an basic level armed service field watch, and it’s really rugged efficiency and design are great.
The dial provides info immediately, and even at night there’s no problem telling enough time. The hands are brightly luminous in the dark, and it generally does not fade for many hours.
The exactness is sufficient for many people.
The “provenance” (history), is nice, as it goes back to an earlier era when watches such as they were worn on the field of challenge.
How big is the situation is exquisite for those with bigger wrists, but even for standard wrists it generally does not really look too large.
For the nylon strap downside, for some that it is nice enough to wear as is. But also for the most part, people don’t buy the Seiko 5 SNZG15 for the strap. You can certainly change the strap to NATO or leather and which should improve its look even more.
