WHAT THEY SAY
seiko 5 sports 50th anniversary
Love this watch, well built and decent reserve electricity, it hasn’t halted yet, mine is a little fast but is not a big issue.
That is a great entry into automatic watches, the Seiko motion has a long history of trustworthiness.
Great watch that arrived promptly. It exceeded my goals. Fit and carry out was beautiful. Well packed. The watch will keep excellent time right out of the box.
A hi-tech, 23 jewels, automatic movement identifies the Seiko Auto Sports and makes it its classic position. This analog watch is guaranteed by 23 jewels; the hands are luminous and silver-toned while baton hour-markers add extra visibility. The watch also shows time frame and resists drinking water for 100 feet. An ideal watch for a circular of beach volleyball, the silver-toned stainless hyperlink bracelet will hold it set up.
SEIKO 5 – this is of the “5” A great marketer had the theory in the 70ies: to be always a SEIKO 5, the watch really needs the following 5 (five) features (thus the name SEIKO 5):
- Water resistant,
- Shock resistant,
Please be aware that some SEIKO 5’s are in fact SEIKO 4’s, if the “Day” function is omitted, then the Caliber 7S25 can be used. The sole difference to the normally found 7S26 is the omission of your day wheel.
Also re-issues of SEIKO 5 Sports often use the 7S36 caliber. Again the 7S36 is comparable to typically the most popular 7S26, yet it features 23 Jewels instead of the 21 Jewels in the 7S26.
Please note that all these movements defeat for a price of 21’600 bph (beats per hour) or 6 bps (beats per second).
As a comparability, an ETA 2824-2 beats at 28’800 bph or 8 bps. A Miyota 82xx beats at 21’600 bph.
Why must i speak about these three activities?
Because they’re found in probably 80% of all inexpensive automatic wrist watches. A market show that is huge, yet challenged nowadays (2006) by an increasing show of inexpensive China Made computerized movements An computerized watch (also called a self-winding watch) is a mechanised watch, typically with an equilibrium steering wheel escapement, whose mainspring is wound by the action of the wearer’s arm, instead of having to be wound personally every day.
Whereas a quartz watch is power by electricity, a mechanical watch is powered by the mainspring which must be rewound for the watch to keep time.
THE CASE AND CRYSTAL
For SNK enthusiasts who wish those watch instances were bigger, the hang on is finally over. The SNZG15 actions a solid 42 mm and it is 12 mm heavy. That means its proportions are bigger than the old-style men’s designer watches, but is noticeably smaller than the outrageously huge watches you commonly see today.
The top circumstance includes a brushed surface finish, as well as polished surface finish on the sides. The crystal is Seiko’s own hardlex crystal, which is incredibly scratch resistant. It is also water resistant up to 100 meters.
The dial design seems a bit busy, though it does have a rather nice arrangement which makes everything still readable. The outer diamond ring shows the prominent numbered markings, while an internal ring provides armed forces time. The day and night out info is featured at the 3 o’clock position.
The hour and minute hands are substantial with a pointy end, while the second hand is merely a nice sliver. The dark-colored dial offsets the hands and markers perfectly. The lume is excellent, as it glows brightly for 7 or 8 time.
The automatic mechanised 7S36 watch motion is exact and reliable, with variances ranging from -20 mere seconds to +40 a few moments a day. It doesn’t quite equate to the best Swiss and Japanese computerized movements, but for an basic level watch it’s more than sufficient.
It provides a whip rate of 21600 BPH, so you do not get the specific ticking from a quartz watch that may be annoying at night when everything’s silent. You’ve got a 40-hour electric power reserve which means you can take it off during the night without having to worry that it’ll stop working.
This is possibly the weakest website link in the Seiko 5 SNZG15, and it’s really the reason why the SNZG15 is a few dollars cheaper than the Seiko 5 SNZG13. The 22 mm nylon strap can feel a little too hard initially, and you will need time to break it in. It will do the job well enough eventually though.
For some, the nylon looks quite cheap so it doesn’t match the silent appeal of the Seiko 5 SNZG15. But with NATO or leather straps you may easily buy to get and online, it’ll look much better.
PROS & CONS seiko 5 sports 50th anniversary
Basically, what we have here is an entry level military services field watch, and it’s really rugged efficiency and design are great.
The dial provides info readily, and even during the night there’s no problem telling enough time. The hands are brightly luminous at night, and it generally does not fade for most hours.
The exactness is good enough for most people.
The “provenance” (background), is nice, as it goes back to an earlier era when wrist watches such as we were holding worn on the field of battle.
The size of the truth is perfect for those with bigger wrists, but even for standard wrists it generally does not really look too big.
As for the nylon strap downside, for some it’s actually nice enough to wear as is. But for the most part, people don’t buy the Seiko 5 SNZG15 for the strap. You can certainly change the strap to NATO or leather and which should improve its look even more.
WHY I SHOP AT AMAZON
seiko 5 sports 50th anniversary -I put lots of time and effort into choosing where you can shop. I’ve favorite stores for groceries. I have favorite stores for clothes. I have stores I detest. And, of course, there’s always online shopping.
Usually, there’s just Amazon.
I find myself at Amazon.com almost every day — even though I’m not shopping, I might be researching prices, reading reviews, upgrading my account or simply dreaming. I remember when Amazon offered just literature, movies, and music. Now, will there be anything they don’t really sell? I’ve bought electronics, playthings, groceries, clothes, and even furniture. It really is the one place I can go to order anything we need.
I’ve only had to deal with their returns several times, but it’s a very simple process. Fill out the form through your bank account, print out the RMA and transport label, then mail the item back again. They’ll send an upgraded or credit your bank account as soon as it arrives. Super easy.
