WHAT THEY SAY
Bonuses SEIKO 5 SPORTS Automatic Strap Watch SNZG15J1 Mens
Love this watch, well built and reasonable reserve ability, it hasn’t stopped yet, mine is a little fast but is not a big concern.
This is a great entry into automatic wrist watches, the Seiko activity has an extended history of reliability.
Great watch that emerged promptly. It exceeded my expectations. Fit and finish was beautiful. Well packaged. The watch helps to keep excellent time right out of the box.
A hi-tech, 23 jewels, automatic movement identifies the Seiko Auto Sports and makes it its basic status. This analog watch is backed by 23 jewels; the hands are luminous and silver-toned while baton hour-markers add extra visibility. The watch also shows particular date and resists water for up to 100 feet. An ideal watch for a round of beach volleyball, the silver-toned stainless steel link bracelet will carry it set up.
SEIKO 5 – this is of the “5” An excellent marketer had the theory in the 70iha sido: to be always a SEIKO 5, the watch really needs the following 5 (five) features (thus the name SEIKO 5):
- Water resistant,
- Shock resistant,
Please be aware that some SEIKO 5’s are in fact SEIKO 4’s, if the “Day” function is omitted, then your Caliber 7S25 can be used. The only real difference to the normally found 7S26 is the omission of your day wheel.
Also re-issues of SEIKO 5 Activities often use the 7S36 caliber. Again the 7S36 is similar to the most popular 7S26, yet it features 23 Jewels instead of the 21 Jewels in the 7S26.
Please note that all these movements beat at a level of 21’600 bph (beats each hour) or 6 bps (beats per second).
As a comparison, an ETA 2824-2 beats at 28’800 bph or 8 bps. A Miyota 82xx beats at 21’600 bph.
Why do I talk about these three activities?
Because they are found in probably 80% of all inexpensive automatic wrist watches. A market talk about that is huge, yet challenged nowadays (2006) by a growing show of inexpensive China Made computerized movements An automatic watch (also called a self-winding watch) is a mechanical watch, typically with an equilibrium wheel escapement, whose mainspring is wound by the motion of the wearer’s arm, rather than needing to be wound by hand every day.
Whereas a quartz watch is powered by electricity, a mechanical watch is driven with a mainspring which must be rewound for the watch to keep time.
THE CASE AND CRYSTAL
For SNK fans who want those watch instances were bigger, the hold out is finally over. The SNZG15 steps a sturdy 42 mm and it is 12 mm heavy. Which means its sizes are bigger than the old-style men’s wrist watches, but is noticeably smaller than the outrageously huge wristwatches you commonly see today.
The top case comes with a brushed finish off, as well as polished carry out on the edges. The crystal is Seiko’s own hardlex crystal, which is extremely scratch resistant. It’s also water resistant up to 100 meters.
The dial design seems somewhat busy, though it does have a rather nice arrangement which makes everything still readable. The outside wedding ring shows the dominant numbered markings, while an inner ring provides armed forces time. Your day and date info is presented at the 3 o’clock position.
The hour and minute hands are significant with a pointy end, as the second hand is just a nice sliver. The dark-colored dial offsets the hands and markers perfectly. The lume is great, as it glows brightly for up to 7 or 8 hours.
The automatic mechanised 7S36 watch motion is appropriate and reliable, with variances ranging from -20 a few moments to +40 moments a day. It doesn’t quite compare with the best Swiss and Japanese programmed movements, but also for an entry level watch it’s more than sufficient.
It offers a beat rate of 21600 BPH, and that means you do not get the distinct ticking from a quartz watch that can be annoying during the night when everything’s noiseless. There is a 40-hour electric power reserve and that means you can take it off at night and never have to worry that it’ll stop working.
This is perhaps the weakest hyperlink in the Seiko 5 SNZG15, and it’s the key reason why the SNZG15 is a few us dollars cheaper than the Seiko 5 SNZG13. The 22 mm nylon strap can feel a little too hard initially, and you will need some time to break it in. It’ll do the job sufficiently eventually though.
For some, the nylon looks quite cheap so that it doesn’t match the silent appeal of the Seiko 5 SNZG15. But with NATO or leather straps you can simply buy in stores and online, it will look much better.
PROS & CONS Bonuses SEIKO 5 SPORTS Automatic Strap Watch SNZG15J1 Mens
Basically, what we have here is an basic level armed service field watch, and it’s rugged operation and design are great.
The dial provides info quickly, and even during the night there is no problem telling enough time. The hands are brightly luminous at night, and it doesn’t fade for most hours.
The correctness is good enough for most people.
The “provenance” (record), is nice, as it dates back to a youthful era when wristwatches such as we were holding worn on the field of battle.
How big is the truth is simply perfect for those with bigger wrists, but even for regular wrists it doesn’t really look too large.
For the nylon strap disadvantage, for some it’s actually nice enough to wear as is. But also for the most part, people don’t choose the Seiko 5 SNZG15 for the strap. You can simply change the strap to NATO or leather and which should improve its look even more.
