WHAT THEY SAY
Bonuses SEIKO 5 SPORTS Automatic Strap Watch SNZG15J1 Mens
Love this watch, well developed and respectable reserve electricity, it has not ceased yet, mine is just a little fast although not a big issue.
This is a great entrance into automatic designer watches, the Seiko motion has a long history of reliability.
Great watch that arrived promptly. It exceeded my expectations. Fit and finish was beautiful. Well packaged. The watch keeps excellent time right out of the box.
A hi-tech, 23 jewels, programmed movement identifies the Seiko Auto Sports and earns it its basic position. This analog watch is guaranteed by 23 jewels; the hands are luminous and silver-toned while baton hour-markers add extra visibility. The watch also shows night out and resists normal water for 100 feet. An ideal watch for a circular of beach volleyball, the silver-toned stainless hyperlink bracelet will maintain it set up.
SEIKO 5 – this is of the “5” A great marketer had the idea in the 70isera: to be always a SEIKO 5, the watch has to have the following 5 (five) features (thus the name SEIKO 5):
- Water resistant,
- Shock resistant,
Please be aware that some SEIKO 5’s are in fact SEIKO 4’s, if the “Day” function is omitted, then the Caliber 7S25 can be used. The sole difference to the normally found 7S26 is the omission of your day wheel.
Also re-issues of SEIKO 5 Activities often use the 7S36 caliber. Again the 7S36 is comparable to typically the most popular 7S26, yet it features 23 Jewels as opposed to the 21 Jewels in the 7S26.
Please note that all these movements conquer for a price of 21’600 bph (beats each hour) or 6 bps (beats per second).
As a contrast, an ETA 2824-2 beats at 28’800 bph or 8 bps. A Miyota 82xx beats at 21’600 bph.
Why should i point out these three movements?
Because they are within probably 80% of most inexpensive automatic wrist watches. A market share that is huge, yet challenged nowadays (2006) by an increasing talk about of inexpensive China Made computerized movements An automated watch (also called a self-winding watch) is a mechanised watch, typically with a balance steering wheel escapement, whose mainspring is wound by the action of the wearer’s arm, rather than needing to be wound physically every day.
Whereas a quartz watch is run by electricity, a mechanical watch is driven by way of a mainspring which must be rewound for the watch to keep time.
THE CASE AND CRYSTAL
For SNK lovers who wish those watch conditions were bigger, the delay is finally over. The SNZG15 measures a robust 42 mm and is also 12 mm dense. That means its dimensions are bigger than the old-style men’s wristwatches, but is noticeably smaller than the outrageously huge wrist watches you commonly see today.
The top circumstance comes with a brushed end, as well as refined surface finish on the edges. The crystal is Seiko’s own hardlex crystal, which is incredibly scratch resistant. It’s also water-resistant up to 100 meters.
The dial design seems a bit busy, though it does have a rather nice arrangement that makes everything still readable. The outer wedding ring shows the dominant numbered markings, while an interior ring provides armed service time. The day and date info is presented at the 3 o’clock position.
The hour and minute hands are significant with a pointy end, as the second hand is merely a nice sliver. The dark dial offsets the hands and markers very well. The lume is great, as it glows brightly for up to 7 or 8 hours.
The automatic mechanical 7S36 watch motion is exact and reliable, with variances which range from -20 a few moments to +40 mere seconds a day. It doesn’t quite equate to the best Swiss and Japanese programmed movements, but also for an basic level watch it’s more than sufficient.
It includes a master rate of 21600 BPH, and that means you do not get the distinct ticking from a quartz watch that can be annoying at night when everything’s noiseless. There is a 40-hour power reserve so you can take it off during the night and never have to worry that it will stop working.
This is possibly the weakest link in the Seiko 5 SNZG15, and it’s really the key reason why the SNZG15 is a few dollars cheaper than the Seiko 5 SNZG13. The 22 mm nylon strap can feel a little too hard initially, and you’ll need some time to break it in. It’ll do the job sufficiently eventually though.
For a few, the nylon appears quite cheap so that it doesn’t match the quiet selling point of the Seiko 5 SNZG15. But with NATO or leather straps you can easily buy to get and online, it’ll look much better.
PROS & CONS Bonuses SEIKO 5 SPORTS Automatic Strap Watch SNZG15J1 Mens
Basically, what we’ve here is an basic level armed service field watch, and it’s rugged operation and design are excellent.
The dial provides info easily, and even during the night there is no problem telling the time. The hands are brightly luminous in the dark, and it generally does not fade for many hours.
The precision is good enough for many people.
The “provenance” (record), is nice, as it goes back to a youthful era when designer watches such as we were holding worn on the field of struggle.
The size of the situation is perfect for people that have bigger wrists, but even for ordinary wrists it generally does not really look too big.
For the nylon strap disadvantage, for some that it is nice enough to wear as is. But for the most part, people don’t buy the Seiko 5 SNZG15 for the strap. You can certainly change the strap to NATO or leather and which should improve its look even more.
