seiko 5 sports diver’s 200m automatic 23 jewels

Love this watch, well built and decent reserve vitality, it has not stopped yet, mine is a little fast but not a big issue.

That is a great entrance into automatic designer watches, the Seiko movements has a long history of trustworthiness.

Great watch that came up promptly. It exceeded my targets. Fit and surface finish was beautiful. Well packed. The watch helps to keep excellent time right out of the box.

A hi-tech, 23 jewels, automated movement defines the Seiko Auto Sports and makes it its typical status. This analog watch is supported by 23 jewels; the hands are luminous and silver-toned while baton hour-markers add extra awareness. The watch also shows time and resists normal water for up to 100 feet. An ideal watch out for a circular of beach volleyball, the silver-toned stainless link bracelet will maintain it in place.

Product description

SEIKO 5 – the meaning of the “5” A great marketer had the theory in the 70isera: to be a SEIKO 5, the watch really needs the following 5 (five) features (thus the name SEIKO 5):

  1. Automatic,
  2. Water resistant,
  3. Shock resistant,
  4. Date,
  5. Day.

Please note that some SEIKO 5’s are actually SEIKO 4’s, if the “Day” function is omitted, then your Caliber 7S25 can be used. The one difference to the normally found 7S26 is the omission of your day wheel.

Also re-issues of SEIKO 5 Sports often use the 7S36 caliber. Again the 7S36 is similar to typically the most popular 7S26, yet it features 23 Jewels as opposed to the 21 Jewels in the 7S26.

Please note that these movements beat for a price of 21’600 bph (beats per hour) or 6 bps (beats per second).

As a comparison, an ETA 2824-2 beats at 28’800 bph or 8 bps. A Miyota 82xx beats at 21’600 bph.

Why do you talk about these three moves?

Because they are within probably 80% of all inexpensive automatic wrist watches. A market show that is huge, yet challenged nowadays (2006) by a growing show of inexpensive China Made automated movements An computerized watch (also known as a self-winding watch) is a mechanical watch, typically with an equilibrium wheel escapement, whose mainspring is wound by the action of the wearer’s arm, instead of needing to be wound physically every day.

Whereas a quartz watch is run by electricity, a mechanised watch is power by a mainspring which must be rewound for the watch to keep time.

THE CASE AND CRYSTAL

For SNK enthusiasts who want those watch circumstances were bigger, the hold out is finally over. The SNZG15 measures a solid 42 mm and is also 12 mm thick. Which means its measurements are bigger than the old-style men’s watches, but is noticeably smaller than the outrageously huge wrist watches you commonly see today.

The top circumstance comes with a brushed end, as well as refined finish on the attributes. The crystal is Seiko’s own hardlex crystal, which is extremely scratch resistant. It’s also water-resistant up to 100 meters.

THE DIAL

The dial design seems somewhat busy, though it does have a rather nice arrangement which makes everything still readable. The external band shows the visible numbered markings, while an interior ring provides armed forces time. The day and day info is included at the 3 o’clock position.

The hour and minute hands are significant with a pointy end, while the second hand is merely a nice sliver. The dark dial offsets the hands and markers properly. The lume is great, as it glows brightly for 7 or 8 hours.

THE MOVEMENT

The automatic mechanised 7S36 watch movements is exact and reliable, with variances ranging from -20 moments to +40 secs a day. It doesn’t quite compare with the best Swiss and Japanese automatic movements, but for an entry level watch it’s more than sufficient.

It includes a defeat rate of 21600 BPH, so you don’t get the specific ticking from a quartz watch that may be annoying during the night when everything’s peaceful. You’ve got a 40-hour ability reserve so you may take it off during the night without having to worry that it will stop working.

THE STRAP

This is possibly the weakest website link in the Seiko 5 SNZG15, and it’s the key reason why the SNZG15 is a few dollars cheaper than the Seiko 5 SNZG13. The 22 mm nylon strap can feel a lttle bit too hard at first, and you’ll need time to break it in. It will get the job done well enough eventually though.

For some, the nylon appears quite cheap so it doesn’t match the tranquil appeal of the Seiko 5 SNZG15. But with NATO or leather straps you may easily buy to get and online, it’ll look far better.

PROS & CONS seiko 5 sports diver’s 200m automatic 23 jewels

Basically, what we’ve here is an basic level military field watch, and it’s rugged functionality and design are great.

  • The dial provides info easily, and even during the night there’s no problem telling enough time. The hands are brightly luminous at night, and it doesn’t fade for most hours.

  • The correctness is good enough for most people.

  • The “provenance” (record), is nice, as it goes back to an earlier era when designer watches such as we were holding worn on the field of fight.

  • How big is the situation is simply perfect for people that have bigger wrists, but even for regular wrists it generally does not really look too large.

As for the nylon strap disadvantage, for some it’s actually nice enough to wear as is. But also for the most part, people don’t choose the Seiko 5 SNZG15 for the strap. You can easily change the strap to NATO or leather and which should improve its look even more.
