WHAT THEY SAY
Where to Shop For SEIKO 5 SPORTS Automatic Strap Watch SNZG15J1 Mens
Love this watch, well built and respectable reserve electricity, it hasn’t ended yet, mine is just a little fast but not a big concern.
This is a great entry into automatic wristwatches, the Seiko activity has a long history of reliability.
Great watch that came on time. It exceeded my prospects. Fit and surface finish was beautiful. Well packed. The watch continues excellent time right from the box.
A hi-tech, 23 jewels, automated movement identifies the Seiko Automatic Sports and earns it its typical position. This analog watch is supported by 23 jewels; the hands are luminous and silver-toned while baton hour-markers add extra visibility. The watch also shows time and resists water for up to 100 feet. An ideal watch for a round of beach volleyball, the silver-toned stainless link bracelet will hold it set up.
SEIKO 5 – this is of the “5” An excellent marketer had the theory in the 70isera: to be always a SEIKO 5, the watch has to have the next 5 (five) features (thus the name SEIKO 5):
- Water resistant,
- Shock resistant,
Please be aware that some SEIKO 5’s are actually SEIKO 4’s, if the “Day” function is omitted, then the Caliber 7S25 is used. Really the only difference to the normally found 7S26 is the omission of your day wheel.
Also re-issues of SEIKO 5 Athletics often use the 7S36 caliber. Again the 7S36 is similar to typically the most popular 7S26, yet it features 23 Jewels as opposed to the 21 Jewels in the 7S26.
Please note that these movements overcome at a level of 21’600 bph (beats per hour) or 6 bps (beats per second).
As a evaluation, an ETA 2824-2 beats at 28’800 bph or 8 bps. A Miyota 82xx beats at 21’600 bph.
Why do you discuss these three actions?
Because they’re within probably 80% of all inexpensive automatic designer watches. A market show that is huge, yet challenged these days (2006) by an increasing show of inexpensive China Made programmed movements An computerized watch (also known as a self-winding watch) is a mechanical watch, typically with a balance steering wheel escapement, whose mainspring is wound by the motion of the wearer’s arm, instead of having to be wound personally every day.
Whereas a quartz watch is run by electricity, a mechanised watch is powered by a mainspring which must be rewound for the watch to keep time.
THE CASE AND CRYSTAL
For SNK enthusiasts who wish those watch situations were bigger, the delay is finally over. The SNZG15 steps a powerful 42 mm which is 12 mm thick. Which means its measurements are bigger than the old-style men’s wrist watches, but is noticeably smaller than the outrageously huge wristwatches you commonly see today.
The top case comes with a brushed surface finish, as well as refined end on the attributes. The crystal is Seiko’s own hardlex crystal, which is incredibly scratch resistant. It’s also water-resistant up to 100 meters.
The dial design seems somewhat busy, though it does have a rather nice arrangement that makes everything still readable. The external engagement ring shows the visible numbered markings, while an internal ring provides military time. The day and night out info is presented at the 3 o’clock position.
The hour and minute hands are large with a pointy end, while the second hand is just a good sliver. The black dial offsets the hands and markers perfectly. The lume is great, as it glows brightly for 7 or 8 hours.
The automatic mechanised 7S36 watch movement is exact and reliable, with variances ranging from -20 seconds to +40 mere seconds a day. That doesn’t quite equate to the best Swiss and Japanese automated movements, but also for an entry level watch it’s more than sufficient.
It provides a beat rate of 21600 BPH, so you do not get the specific ticking from a quartz watch that can be annoying during the night when everything’s calm. There is a 40-hour power reserve which means you may take it off during the night without having to worry that it will stop working.
This is perhaps the weakest hyperlink in the Seiko 5 SNZG15, and it’s really the reason why the SNZG15 is a few us dollars cheaper than the Seiko 5 SNZG13. The 22 mm nylon strap can feel somewhat too hard at first, and you’ll need time to break it in. It’ll do the job well enough eventually though.
For a few, the nylon appears quite cheap so that it doesn’t match the quiet appeal of the Seiko 5 SNZG15. But with NATO or leather straps you may easily buy to get and online, it’ll look far better.
PROS & CONS Where to Shop For SEIKO 5 SPORTS Automatic Strap Watch SNZG15J1 Mens
Basically, what we have here is an basic level armed forces field watch, and it’s really rugged efficiency and design are excellent.
The dial provides info quickly, and even during the night there is no problem telling enough time. The hands are brightly luminous at night, and it doesn’t fade for most hours.
The correctness is sufficient for most people.
The “provenance” (record), is nice, as it goes back to an earlier era when watches such as these were worn on the field of challenge.
How big is the case is ideal for those with bigger wrists, but even for standard wrists it doesn’t really look too large.
As for the nylon strap disadvantage, for some that it is nice enough to wear as is. But also for the most part, people don’t buy the Seiko 5 SNZG15 for the strap. You can certainly change the strap to NATO or leather and which should improve its look even more.
